TEXAS APARTMENT OCCUPANCY DECLINES SLIGHTLY
CARROLLTON (ALNsystems.com) – The number of apartments rented statewide fell 1 percent between March 2009 and the same month in 2010, according to the latest figures from ALN. Meanwhile, rents fell 1.5 percent.
Here’s how select cities fared for the year ending March 2010:
Austin
Occupancy climbed 2.5 percent to 89.7 percent, while average monthly rent fell 2.4 percent to $801.
Dallas
Occupancy declined 1.6 percent to 87.7 percent as rent fell 2.4 percent to $759.
Fort Worth
Occupancy rose 0.3 percent to 87.6 percent. Average rent declined 1.4 percent to $664.
Houston
Occupancy fell 2.6 percent to 85.2 percent, and average rent declined 0.7 percent to $747.
San Antonio
Occupancy increased 1 percent to 88.8 percent as average rent declined 0.2 percent to $691.
Lubbock
Occupancy increased 1.3 percent to 90.4 percent, while average rent declined 0.5 percent to $608.
Amarillo
Occupancy increased 3.1 percent to 89.6 percent. Average rent also increased, rising 1.2 percent to $591.
Corpus Christi
Occupancy fell 1.7 percent to 89.9 percent, and rent declined 3.2 percent to $675.
