The first Tuesday in November is both a general national and state election day. If you have not registered to vote you have until Monday October 4, 2010 to complete the registration application so that you can vote in the November 2, 2010 election. It is important for citizens to exercises their right to vote. To register to vote in Texas you have to:
1) Be a US Citizen;
2) You are legally registered to vote in Texas;
3) You are at least 18 years old on Election Day November 2, 2010;
4) Not a convicted felon (you may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation and parole)
5) You have not been declared by a court to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partial mentally incapacitated without the right to vote being declared by the court.
If you are unsure if you are registered or want to register to vote go to www.votexas.org to find all the data you will need. The registration form has to be received at the applicable county office or postmarked no later than tomorrow October 4, 2010.
This will be an important election year both on a local as well as national level. If you live in the Katy ISD jurisdiction it will be very important to vote on the KISD Trustees $459.7 million bond package. We are blessed with excellent schools in the Katy area and to maintain excellence it is necessary for all of us to vote and vote for this important bond issuance.
