SEVEN LAKES JR VARSITY BEATS BAYTOWN LEE

September 25th, 2009

Last evening Seven Lakes  Jr Varsity A team beat Baytown Lee 23-0 at Seven Lakes High School. This was the second dtraight shutout for this group as last they beat Northbrook 53-0. The key here is that not too long ago Seven lakses teams were usually on the short end of the score and the games were not close. The Seven Lakes varsity plays Baytown Lee this evening in Baytown and they won their last two games by shutting out both Foster (23-0) and Northbrook ( 57-0). Go Spartans!!! Let see if the varsity can make it three shutouts ina row.

One sad note from last evening was that the starting QB from Baytown Lee JV was seriously hurt on what ended up being the last play of the game. I have always been taught that it is common courtsey for everyone to wait and watch respectfully until an injured player is removed from the field. Most of the Seven Lakes parents, I can proudly say stayed and cheered for this poor guy when he was being wheeled off the field on a strencher. We all pray that this child is OK as they were very careful not to move him while they were attempting to place him on the board. He raised his hand to acknowledge our applause for him which was also good sign and one that as concerned parents we all apreciated.  If anyone knows how this child is we would certainly appreciate knowing. The preliminary report was that he had a broken collar bone.

However, my problem was that some of players, coaches, parents and all the cheerleaders were not respectfull of this poor guy and did not give him the proper attention or common courtsey he deserved. As one the parents said to my wife, father-in-law and to me " That could be one our sons" and he was absolutely correct. We did not disagree with him at all as my family was very unhappy with the actions of some of the folks around us and on the field. I was particularly upset with a few of the parents I saw leave the stands while they medical crew was working on this poor child and then I saw them standing at the gate BS ing with other parents. Poor judgement and a total lack of CLASS in my opinion!!! what do you all think of this situation and what would you do? The game was officially called by the head official with 30 plus seconds on the clock and with the medical staff still working on this child. The time to prepare him to move was 20-30 minutes maybe.
