Every year Newsweek Magazine releases its list of the top 1,600 High Schools across the entire United States. Only 6% or 96 schools of the named group are public schools with the 94% majority being private schools. The schools are ranked and chosen by usingAdvanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Cambridge test results as compared to the number of graduating seniors. The data for this years' list is from 2009.
Katy Independent School District once again had 4 schools make the Newsweek list and it is the same schools this year as last year. Cinco Ranch High School was ranked number 478 this year and this was the best rating for the Katy schools. They were followed by Seven Lakes at 689, Katy Taylor at 982 and Katy High School at at 1,387.
The top ranked Houston area school was Cargegie Vanguard at number 29. Several other area schools made the list including Memorial at 220, Westside at at 312 and Stratford at 366. Fort Bend ISD had 5 schools in total make the list and I will write a separate blog about this group.
Congratulations to all of the Houston area schools who made this list and once again KISD has 4 schools in top 1,600 in the entire USA.
