Well Soccer fans this is just what we have been waiting for as the US Men's Team plays Algeria tomorrow at 9:30 EDT and 8:30 CST for an opportunity to advance out of Group play and advance to the quarterfinals. Yes I know the US Team got robbed by that terrible ref who called a foul on the goal scoring set piece that would have been the winning goal against Slovenia. We all saw it several times but GET over it. If the US wins tomorrow we advance it is as simple as that .. Just Win Baby!!! If we tie it becomes complicated and if we lose the Team comes home.
Let us root for the US team and support our guys as this is a huge game for US soccer both at home and in international circles. We need to show the world that our team is not like the French Team which has become a national disgrace. If England does not win tomorrow then their whole country will be reeling from another disaster besides the Guld oil spill.
One very important statistic I heard while watching the World Cup games is that 2.4 million youths between the ages of 5-18 play soccer in the US right now while back in the 1970's this number was around 100,000. Youth soccer is a major sport in the Katy and surrounding areas of Katy and continues to grow each year. The area has numerous excellent girl's and boy's teams. I believe a good showing at this World Cup by our Men's Team will have a tremendous positive effect for youth soccer all over the US. As I said in previous World Cup Blog Soccer is the World's game.
I know I have really enjoyed watching these games. Have you enjoyed yourselves?
