All of you who watched the US beat Algeria 1-0 the other day had a special treat in my opinion. What a special game and how about that US goal in 91 st minute of play!!! Talk about an exciting game. The US during entire second half had one wave after another of offensive surges and Algeria had a few quick counterattacks that made this game really exciting. Once again the US was robbed by a bad offsides call during the first half but they rose above the nonsense ( political?) and won the game. Even if you don't follow soccer you can not tell me you were not excited when we scored. That moment was almost as good as Lake Placid Miracle on Ice when the US Hockey Team made up of mainly college boys beat the powerful Soviet Union Team who had just crushed NHL all stars in a game.

Let all of us even if you don't understand the game support the US tomorrow as we play Ghana in the elimination round. Ghana four years ago beat the US I believe 1-0 and kept the US from making the final 16 teams and were eliminated. It is time for pay back. Playing Ghana will be like playing the home Team from a host country as they are the only Team from Africa to make it out of Group Play. It should be a really good game. Go USA!!!

Here are a few brief comments on this year's World Cup to date:

1) USA goes undefeated in Group play and advances to final 16 while most of the world thought our Team was a joke.

2) USA wins Group C ahead of England who fields a Team loaded with Soccer superstars. England is sort of like a Soccer Dream Team but US finishes ahead of them. Wow who would have thought this??? Certainly not the English soccer fans.

3) France totally self destructs and goes home as a national disgrace. Their coach is a real piece of work. Sad thing is that the rest of the world is just laughing at the French.

4) Italy the defending World Cup Champs do not make it out of Group play and go home early. This is truly amazing. At least the Italians showed class and did not embarrass themselves in front of the whole world.

5) North Korea loses all of their games and gets totally beaten by Portugal in a 7-0 romp. North Korea it is rumored hired Chinese actors to attend the games and act like they were North Korean fans. ( spare me please) and the North Korean coach claims he speaks to their leader on an invisible phone. That is really out there!!!!

Houston and Katy TX are both culturally diversified areas where many foreigners come to live and work. Soccer is the national sport of almost the entire world and is a huge sport in Houston/Katy. If you are transferred or decide to move here you will find a very healthy soccer climate and excellent teams. No worries mate on that front!!!
