KATY4U: HYATT LOST PINES IN BASTROP GREAT PLACE TO RELAX

July 3rd, 2010

Yesterday July 2 my wife and I celebrated our anniversary and we went to one of our favorite places in the entire world being the Lost Pines Hyatt Resort in Bastrop, TX. Another of a long line of advantages to living in Katy is that you are close to many interesting places to go to in the State of Texas including Austin, San Antonio, the Texas Hill Country plus several other really neat destinations. If you are not familiar with Houston then you need to know that it is NOT a place to go on vacation. However, a fairly short drives beyond Katy lies many cool areas to visit and spend vacation time. Katy is about 30 miles due west of downtown Houston which really saves you time if you are traveling west.

The Lost Pines Hyatt Resort is just outside historic Bastrop, TX or about 140 miles from our home in Katy. This is usually easy and enjoyable drive for us but when we left on Thursday there was heavy rain in the area due to hurricane Alex and the roads until we hit Colorado county were loaded with water on the road way itself. That will be the subject of a separate blog. The Hyatt resort is next to the Lower Colorado River Authority Park called Mckinley Rough. The resort is fabulous with something for almost anyone to do or see. The staff there is fantastic and all are very friendly and extremely helpful. We love to go there and as my step children love to say "do some straight chilling".

There are so many things for the whole family to do such as hiking the grounds and the LCRA park area; play golf on a really great golf course; tube on the lazy river; eat really good food and relax; watch sports at the hotel bar; ride horses; watch and look for wild life ( we saw a baby deer feeding on his mom when we left today) ect. My best advice is to check out their web site at http://lostpines.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp and you tell me if there is something missing.

We have been to this resort on several occasions and can not say enough about the hotel, the resort and its staff and their management. If you need to get away for a day or for a vacation think about Lost Pines and I guarantee you will be very happy with your decision. We plan to go back again only the next time we are planning to meet several of our friends plus bring our own family...
