The number of foreclosure postings in Harris County during the first seven months of 2011 dropped in comparison to the same time period last year — marking only the second time in the last 11 years for a drop in year-to-date postings in July.
Research by Foreclosure Information & Listing Service Inc. of The Woodlands shows 26,297 properties were posted for foreclosure from January through July, a decrease of 2.51 percent from the first seven months in 2010.
“Discounting an anomolous period between 2005 and 2006, this is the first time since 1999 to 2000 that year-to-date postings in the current year have dropped over the previous year,” according to the firm’s monthly foreclosure report.
