Looking back over 2009 in the Heights market, you can see where the number of sales have started to improve. The events of September 2008 when Ike struck and October when the stock market crashed can clearly be seen on our housing market statistics. The good news is they started to recover around July of 2009. While not back to their previous levels, at least activity has picked up. 2010 is being talked about as another challenging year, but we are still very lucky to be in Houston as opposed to other metropolitan cities across the nation if you need or want to sell your home. Foreclosures have not really affected home values in the Heights area compared to communities further out, but they will influence the housing market in general in 2010 as they pile up at banks making loans harder to obtain for buyers.
