If you have been on the Heights Hike & Bike Trail and have wondered how to connect to the Buffalo Bayou trail, I've tried a few different paths and for now I have settled on this one for a minimum traffic route. 

This route takes you from the Heights trail (I'm not sure what is considered the official start/end point) to the Art Park along the Buffalo Bayou Hike & Bike Trail.  Heading southeast on the Heights trail, you will pass Target, cross over Sawyer and  proceed east on the trail along Spring Street to Silver.  Turn south on Silver which on the weekend did not have much traffic at all.  Riding along Silver allows you to cross over the RR tracks.  Many of the streets do not go through at the RR crossing.  Once past the RR tracks, the busiest intersection was (obviously) at Washington Avenue.  On Sunday morning, this route was desolate, but on Tuesday between 4:30 and 5:00 pm, it was a little congested, mostly between the RR tracks and Washington Avenue.

Once south of Washington Avenue, heading east on Kern Street one block and turning south on Sabine Street takes you down an unbelievably charming old brick road.  Turn east on State Street and you will shortly see where to cross under Memorial Drive on Houston Avenue for about 2 blocks.  Then it is just a short jaunt across the Sabine Street Lofts parking lot to the Art Park along Buffalo Bayou where you can head east to downtown or west towards Shepherd under the quaint Sabine Street bridge.
