UPDATE 5/07/2010:  The Northside now has 53 subscribers to the Constable Patrol program. Northside is now open for registration. The boundaries are 610 on the north, W. 20th on the south, Durham on the west and Airline on the east. The Houston Heights currently has two constable patrols, one on the east side and another on the west side (see map above).  Subscribing property owners in the designated patrol area pay an annual fee for patrol service. 

There is activity underway to create a 3rd patrol area on the north side (see map above).  In order to make this happen, we need 311 subscribers at $255 each from that area.  If you are interested, email me at cynthia@yourblvd.com or heightspatrol@houstonheights.org.  As soon as we have the minimum number of 311 subscribers, we can get started in this new zone!

The constables on patrol are Harris County deputies, who are in uniform, armed and driving distinctively marked law enforcement vehicles.  Harris County covers 20% of the cost of this service and subscribing residents cover the rest.  The current cost per subscriber is $255 per calendar year.  It can change depending on the number of people that subscribe. 

Paid subscribers qualify for enhanced services such as vacation watches, special watches, home alarm inspections and direct access to the Precinct I dispatcher providing the subscriber with quick response time to calls for help or for reports of suspicious activities.  Subscribers may call the Precinct I dispatcher even when a deputy is not on neighborhood patrol.  Subscribers may also designate the constable as the first responder to an activated alarm. 

You do not need to be a member of the Houston Heights Association to subscribe.  This service is open to Heights residents, businesses and property owners in a patrol area.
