The Woodlands Township collects an ad valorem property tax to provide important community services in the amount of 32.8 cents per $100 assessed valuation. These services include, but are not limited to, public safety, fire protection, environmental services including waste management and recycling, parks, pathways, pools, covenant administration, economic development and other community services.
The former Community Associations of The Woodlands for many years collected assessment fees. The transition of the Community Associations of The Woodlands and the former Town Center Improvement District created The Woodlands Township. As of January 1, 2010, assessments were replaced with an ad valorem property tax. The Township property tax was included as an additional line item on the J.R. Moore, Jr. Montgomery County Tax Assessor-Collector tax bill that was mailed out in October 2009. The tax office can be reached by calling 936-539-7897 or by logging on to the Montgomery County Web site.
