Hurricane season began on June 1st and runs through November 30th. There have been two named storms already this year. Take some simple steps now and save yourself some stress when mother nature decides to come calling. Here are some basic things to do to be prepared:
Build a Kit - non-perishable food, water, and supplies to last your family 5-7 days...remember that some services may not be available right after a storm passes.
Make an Emergency Plan - talk to family, friends and co-workers about what you will do if a storm becomes a threat to the area. Have a plan to communicate with family and friends before and after the event.
Be Informed - stay in tune with updates to the weather conditions, some storms can develop very quickly. Stay informed if the power goes out with battery operated radio or other devices.
