Starting Aug. 12, parents can find their child’s bus schedule and transportation eligibility through Edulog’s WebQuery on the Katy ISD website. To be eligible for transportation services, an elementary student must live beyond an approximate ½-mile radius from school property, and for secondary students, beyond an approximate one-mile radius from school property. Bus transportation will continue to be provided for special needs bus routes, as well as those students who live in areas with walking conditions the District has deemed hazardous.

All parents should check transportation eligibility in August. Parents with students entering junior high or high school (6^th and 9^th grade students), or attending Tompkins High School should be aware that they may no longer be eligible for transportation services. Conversely, students entering junior high or high school who have not previously had service may now be eligible depending on their proximity to the new school.

Parents and guardians who believe their child may no longer be eligible for transportation services for the 2013-2014 school year are encouraged to: set up car pools and walk groups; provide parent/volunteer assistance at key intersections outside designated school zones; and report unsafe conditions to the Parent and Patron Assistance Center at (281) 396-2441.

The District will open a transportation call center on Aug. 12 to answer parents’ questions about transportation eligibility. The call center will be available at (281) 396-6008 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.  A list of frequently asked questions and additional information regarding 2013-2014 transportation services can be found on the Katy ISD website.

Katy ISD continues to recruit bus drivers for the 2013-2014 school year by hosting additional job fairs and posting advertisements on employment websites, the District’s website and social media pages, and the Rhodes Stadium scoreboard.
