Having taken courses in Facebook 101 and Blogging 101 (for Real Estate). The question was raised "Are they really beneficial to the Real Estate Industry and are they marketing effective?" If you do use Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, LinkedIn, etc., for business promotion, is it unprofessional to use it for personal use?
I am a Facebook fan. I use it for business and personal. As most of you know, I have 2 pages. (1 business and 1 personal) I love to interact with others on a daily basis. Those who know me, know I enjoy making people laugh. With the recent adding of the "ha ha" "wow" "love" and "sad" buttons, I'm able to see how most view my post. I enjoy being able to keep up with my friends and family, and journey through their life with them as they post their views and opinions, family photos, vacations, kids, success and failures, etc., and it helps me keep up with current events. I use it to promote my listings and share my success. It is my social network of choice for my personal and business life. While I keep my business page strictly business, I often share to my personal page, since the larger of my audience is there.
I believe that Social Media has definitely been a huge factor in generating business. I am able to let my audience know that I AM a Realtor, by adding it to my name, and I am able to promote my product. Even if you aren't currently in the market for a home, eventually you may be. My goal is that you remember me, and call me or refer your friends when that time comes. (as so many of you have, and I thank you for that!)
I believe that you can have the best of both worlds. Either way, I think it's important to be who you are, at the same time promoting what you love.
Come like my Facebook page, if you haven't already! And don't forget, the best compliment you can give me, is your referrals!
