Buffalo Bayou Park and The Dunlavy

August 6th, 2017

When we moved into town (close to Downtown Houston) from the "burbs" of Katy, Texas,  the main idea was to cut the commute time down for my husband, who works downtown.  As a Houston real estate agent, I could live anywhere in the city and work with my clients from my virtual office.  I was looking forward to a different type of city lifestyle, which would mirror other places that we had lived overseas.  For me, that meant being able to walk to restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping.  And, of course, having downtown Houston near by where we could attend cultural and sports acitivites is a must.  But what really surprised me was the amazing Buffalo Bayou Park!  Did you know that there is 160 acres of park including bike trails, walking trails, and outdoor activities?  The trails will take you into Downtown Houston and is available to everyone.

My husband is an avid bicyclist, and he has gotten me into it as well. Now, one of my favorite things to do on a Saturday morning is to ride bikes to Buffalo Bayou Park. We access it from Taft Street street on Allen Parkway since we live in Midtown/East Montrose.  There is also metered parking on Allen Parkway if you'd rather to drive. They serve a great breakfast and lunch at The Dunlavy also known as The Kitchen at The Dunlavy which IS IN Buffalo Bayou Park.  You can access it from Allen Parkway with valet and self park options available. They have some really nice, healthy options and the views of the park are amazing! There entire restaurant is windows, as you can see in the picture of me in my cycling garb.  Notice the crystal chandeliers!!  How elegant!!  The Buffalo Bayou Park Visitor's Center is also there by the Dunlavy where you can rent paddle craft. I haven't done this yet. I will soon and let you know how it went.

What kinds of things you do enjoy doing at Buffalo Bayou Park?  Please share!  And, if you want to talk about the Houston Real Estate Market, give me a call. There are many living options in the area including The Royalton High Rise condominium property which is across Allen Parkway from the Dunlavy or The Vistas in Midtown.  Maybe I can entice you in from the "burbs"?
