I’ve been blogging for a short time now and I usually blog about a question that a buyer or seller has asked me.  I like to keep my blogs short and sweet.  Who wants to read a bunch of filler?  So here is my latest question and I think it’s my all time favorite. 

How do you pronounce Realtor?  Oh, thank you so much for asking!  So many people pronounce it wrong so here it is.  REEL-TOR.  Two syllables.  There is no “uh” in there.  The REAL is easy and the TOR is like doctor.  Which also means there is no “eh” in realty.  It’s just REEL-TEE.  I have heard many people say Realahtur and I’ve only had one person ever ask how it is pronounced.  If your Realtor says it wrong it’s even worse.  The bad thing is that we’ve been taught that it’s rude to correct someone so we let it go on. 

While we are on the subject, many people get my last name wrong.  I think it’s funny when people say Sherretts like it’s a syndrome, it doesn’t rhyme with Tourettes.  Its pronounced Share-its.  Easy enough once you know.  Not so much at first glance J
