Staging Your Home

April 14th, 2015

I have had the honor  of working with clients in staging their homes lately:  one home is located in The Woodlands and one is located in Crighton Ridge.  I think it is fun to work with my clients and come together with ideas.  I thought I would list a few things that might be helpful for others.  Work on all the collectibles.  Remove anything smaller than a cantelope!  Some collections need to be packed since you are moving anyway.  Remember, LESS IS MORE.  Mix books with decorative items on shelves.

Remove all family photos.  The buyers do not need to know who  you are or where you have traveled.  It takes the focus from the house to you.

Try to make your bedrooms and closets look larger by removing excess furniture, wall hangings, etc.  Try to make the beds look interesting with pillows and linens.

Remove extra small rugs as it "breaks" the flow of the eye as it looks at flooring.

Try to clean off your kitchen and bathroom counters to where there is very little on them.  I love my coffee in the morning, so I understand the coffee pot sitting out, but not the toaster, mixer, and all other appliances.  Remove tea towels from sight and everything OFF of the refrigerator.  These are just a few ideas in preparing your home to sell.
