It's NOT lonely at the TOP!

January 15th, 2017

It is amusing to me that every January I see posts and ads from various real estate agents ALL claiming to be “#1”.  And there are MANY different types of “#1” which may be confusing to the non-real-estate professional reader.  To anyone who practices real estate as a profession, you will understand.

Recently I saw FB posts from an agent claiming she was “once again” #1 and that her company was also #1.  I am incredibly amused by this because the company is, in fact, not even close to the #1 spot in any category in our local market.   What I found even more amusing, not even a week later, another agent from the same office put out a post also claiming to be #1.   I was scratching my head, and I’m sure I was not alone (if anyone was even paying attention.)

I have a background in mathematics and realize through my study of statistics that numbers can indeed be manipulated in an infinite number of ways.  Okay, that may be a SLIGHT exaggeration, but you get the point.  So, how does a buyer or seller really ascertain which company indeed reigns supreme when they are searching for a strong real estate professional.

What is needed are the facts.  Just the facts, without any manipulation to the numbers.  For this example, I will provide the breakdown of the top 3 real estate franchises in my local market which includes Spring, Tomball, Cypress, Magnolia and The Woodlands for total listing sides sold in 2016.  I could provide additional cities, zip codes, etc., and even other types of breakdowns (such as Selling Sides, Transaction Sides and Current Active Listings), but the intent is not to bore my reader to tears.  The numbers listed below for the top three companies are reflective of similar stats on these other categories.  (If anyone is interested in obtaining the stats on these other breakdowns, please feel free to contact me privately. )

The data listed here comes from our Houston MLS, and is reflective of sales reported from 1/1/2016 – 12/31/2016:

NOBODY SELLS MORE REAL ESTATE

Than

RE/MAX!
