If youre a weather fan, Houston is the perfect place for you to call home!
We face just about every weather threat under the sun: scorching heat, flooding rain,
thunderstorms, hurricanes, powerful winds, hail, tornadoes, ice, and even snowstorms (well sometimes...LOL).
Without a doubt, hurricanes pose the biggest threat to our area. With hurricane season
lasting half of the year, we must stay vigilant!
The best defense for you and your family is to stay weather smart. Prepare your personal checklists
for your family. Think about medicines, food, water, clothing, and special needs you have on a typical day
and plan to have at least a seven-day supply of these items. If you live near the coast,
determine where you would go if asked to evacuate in advance of an approaching storm.
Stay tuned to weather stations for up-to date reporting in case you do need to evacuate. So be prepared with plenty of batteries for radios and special chargers for your cell phones.
I have attached a copy of a hurricane preparedness guide by David Paul, Chief Meteorologist, at KHOU11 in this email to get you started, so that you will have supplies on hand BEFORE a storm threatens our area.
