Flood Insurance Rates Changing

October 14th, 2021



FEMA is calling this Risk Rating 2.0, there hasnt been a change in the flood insurance rates since 1978!  

Risk Rating 2.0 is more about being fair, by incorporating more flood risk variables.  Those include:

The big takeaway here is that the only way to get a true flood insurance quote will be to run the quote for that particular property.  

Harris County maps will be completely redone by Jan 1, 2022.  By 2024, FEMA should have completely redone all insurance rates again.
