How to Recycle your Christmas Tree in Houston

Two days after Christmas and how do you get rid of
your Christmas tree?
Well, the City of Houston and the Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) have a couple of easy ways you can recycle your real tree:
- Free drop off at any of the 17 recycling sites throughout Houston from December 27th to January 8th. Of course, they are closed January 1st.
- Place the tree curbside on scheduled waste pickup day and it will be recycled.
All trees picked up for recycling will be turned into mulch which will be available in bulk directly from Living Earth or in bags at Houston retailers.
ALL trees must be free of all decorations, ornaments, tinsel, lights and tree stands. Unfortunately, flocked trees cannot be recycled.
