Here are a few Flood Zone types:
100 year floodplain. Zone A, V. A99, AE, AO, AH, VE or AR on a flood map means there is a 1% chance of flooding annually. This is a high possibility of flooding, not guaranteed but a good chance. This type could include a reservoir, floodway or flood pool.
500 year floodplain. Zone X and B. This area has about 2 tenths of 1% annual chance of flooding.
There are a few more but these are generally the ones to look out for.
For me I would not place livestock in an area that has a high probability of flooding annually.
Hope this helps you and gives you somewhere to start researching flood zones as you decide where you want to buy or move to.
This is my take on the matter and is not advice or anything like that. It's for discussion purposes only.
