Did you ever wonder where Jersey Village got its name? The area land was owned by Clark Henry and was also home to F&M Dairy. Get it? Jersey cows, Jersey Village. My father told me of school field trips to the dairy in Jersey Village where you could see the dairy in action, get ice cream and even ride a pony. Mr. Henry and a business partner eventually made plans to develop the area and in the 1950s the City of Jersey Village was created. Though you may still see a patch of grazing land here and there, the Jersey Village area is now well developed. One great neighborhood in that area is Winchester Village, where you will find 9215 Cabin Creek – just listed!

When you stop by 9215 Cabin Creek this weekend (open this Saturday!), you’ll notice not only how close it is to the neighborhood pool & playground, but also the proximity to Wheatland Park’s ½ mile loop walking trail, Cook Middle School’s track, and the White Oak Bayou Hike & Bike trail that leads all the way past Downtown Houston. So if you like to get outdoors and explore, you have some wonderful options.

You also have some diverse and delicious dining options like Bahn Mi ETC, Tandoorish Indian Cuisine, Backyard Grill, Adriatic Café and Willie’s Ice House. So you definitely won’t starve.

In addition, you can easily get to Memorial City or Bush Airport via the Beltway. And now that 290 is complete, it’s easier to navigate that once congested 610/I-10/290 interchange. This time of year you can quickly hop on 290 and head out of town for a Hill Country getaway too!
