Fun Summer Events Around the Woodlands

June 19th, 2018

Summer is the perfect time to get out of the house and enjoy family-friendly activities, whether you’re an individual or a parent. There’s always something interesting going on in Montgomery County and The Woodlands areas, a little something that everyone can be a part of.

In an effort to have families to participate in events together, the Fairy Day Celebration will take place on June 22nd from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Parents and children alike are encouraged to dress up like their favorite fairy and take part in fun, fairy-themed activities. Art projects, story times, and a scavenger hunt are among the goings-on scheduled for this family event.

On June 21st, in an effort to prevent drowning, the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson is scheduled at the Conroe Aquatic Center from 10:00am to 10:30am. Last year’s event set the record for worldwide participation at 40,000 people and this year, swimming instructors hope to beat that record.

Come visit one of the many community parks for the Fourth of July Red, Hot & Blue Festival on July 4th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Some of the highlights will include live music, various food vendors, and entertainment for the whole family that will be a unique experience depending on which community park you’re visiting. Several parks will have balloon artists, face painting, food trucks, and the Town Green Park will also offer a Kids’ Zone.

The entire day hosts several activities, including the Fourth of July Parade starting at 9:00am on Independence Day. Watch as marching bands, fire trucks, parade floats and more trek 1.3 miles through The Woodlands before you take advantage of Splash Day from 10:00am to 6:00pm at one of the thirteen community pools, where admission is free and refreshments are available.

Another Independence Day event to consider is Freedom Fest that features arts and crafts, a baking contest, a parade, and a cookoff from 9:00am to 4:00pm. This event also features a Kids’ Zone to keep the little ones busy before you get ready to watch the grand finale of the night.

The Fireworks Extravaganza will start at 9:30pm and will cover an eighteen-minute time slot complete with patriotic music. The fireworks show can be easily observed from several places throughout the area, including Town Green Park, Waterway Square Park, Hughes Landing, Northshore Park, and Rob Fleming Park.

For a great way to bring Independence Day weekend to a close, come out on July 5th and have fun at Heritage Place in Conroe, for the first Thursday free concert featuring the Rod Brothers at 6:30pm and Escape, a Journey tribute band at 8:00pm.
