Whether you are looking for your dream home in the far suburbs or prefer to return to the City center your new life with your pets will be much more enjoyable if the neighborhood is welcoming and accommodating to pets.  Dog parks, walking trails and sidewalks will make all the difference and help your family enjoy their new home.  Be sure to pay attention to local ordinances when walking Fido and Princess.  In most places its necessary to pickup any waste material so you need to carry plastic bags with you. 

If you are purchasing a home with a yard you might want to consider a pet door so that everyone in the family can enjoy the outside when nature calls.  Pet doors can allow uninvited guests so you might want to check out the variety available that allow only the intended pet to use it.  These include simple magnet release locks and electronic automatic doors and range from under $100 and up to several hundred.  You don’t want the local wildlife stopping by for a bite of dog food!  Larger dogs require larger pet doors and those can allow larger uninvited visitors to include the human variety.  Always keep safety in mind.

In the event you are looking for a condo be sure to check out their rules and regulations.  Condo Associations frequently limit the number and size of pets.  Two dogs and a cat may keep you out of many properties.

Empty nester or not all home purchasers will want to consider indoor air quality as they consider their next home.  Adding the two dogs and a cat to a home will increase the need for proper air filtering.
