If you own a house in the Heights, or are thinking of buying one, you are aware of the multiple Heights Historic Districts.
These districts restrict what you can do in renovating or adding an addition to the house. The Architectural Board had to approve your plans before you could make external changes to your house. Approval might mean several changes and several trips back before final ok was given.
The big complaint on the approval process was that decisions were arbitrary, based on constantly changing opinions, etc. These guidelines weren't in writing, so you had to figure out was was allowed and not allowed by trial and error.
A draft of the first written Heights Historic Guidelines is to be presented on June 20th at the Heights Fire Station.I have written about this on my website.
Details of the meeting, location and time for the Historic Guidelines are here.
Boundaries of the various Heights Historic Districts are also on the site.
