Architecturally Impressive Glenbrook Valley

November 1st, 2012

Glenbrook Valley continues to recieve accolades for it's architecture and historic character.  In September, House and Home magazine did a cover story on Glenbrook Valley, featuring one of the homes on Santa Elena.  The magazine editor, Sandra Cook, noted the following:

" Houston has come a long way in recent decades, with one area of improvement being historic preservation. Citizens and local officials have made tremendous efforts to help our city hang on to iconic pieces of our past. A major milestone occured last summer when Glenbrook Valley was named the first post World War II historic district in Houston and Texas."

Glenbrook Valley's rising star has shone in more than just House and Home recently.  Arcadia Publishing's "Images of America" paperback series recently published a new book by Anna Mod titled Building Modern Houston.  Glenbrook Valley was also featured prominently in this publication as well, with several photos of various homes in the neighborhood.  One of the excerpts reads as follows:

"...many of the homes are architect designed, and the neighborhood has become popular with young, urban hipsters and modern-architecture enthusiasts."

The recognition is certainly well-deserved and impressive, but it doesn't stop there.  The American Institute of Architects has just published their 3rd edition of the Architectural Guide to Houston by Stephen Fox.  A highly-regarded publication, it is sort of a "who's who" of buildings across the Houston area, both new and old. Glenbrook Valley homes have also been included in this prestigious publication.

Homes architecturally noteworthy enough to be recognized by the American Institute of Architects.  Iconic pieces of Houston's past that are now protected and sought after by "urban hipsters" and "modern-architecture enthusiasts."  Who knew?  Apparently more and more are finding out.  Even more impressive, this substantial history and architectural quality is surpringly attainable for those in the know.  If run-of-the-mill or "cookie-cutter" homes just don't reflect your taste and individuality, you have a choice.  Glenbrook Valley not only provides superb architecture, it provides a very convenient location and an incredible housing value.  If you haven't checked it out yet, make a point to view it for yourself.  As always, if you have any questions on the neighborhood or the historic district designation, please don't hesitate to give me a call or send me an e-mail.
