They say that dogs are man's best friend and sometimes you do not know how true that is until you experience the love that a dog brings into your life.
Dogs are such amazing beings that can make you forget about a bad day and they help you cope with certain things. It is as if they know you are going through something and want to you show that you are not alone.
Sometimes, you are the only things that is important to them because you too are THEIR best friend. When you have to go to work, they wait by the door until they come back because they are loyal. They are excited for you to just get home and greet you with the upmost excitement.
If you have never had a dog or just have not had the opportunity to add one to the family, you may want to consider adopting one the first chance you get. There are many dogs who are abandoned in shelters and are waiting to be adopted by someone they can love.
If you are not ready to commit to a dog, then you can definitely foster a dog. You care for them for a short amount of time until they are ready to go to their forever home. For example, I have a friend who is currently fostering a dog, Hank. They are a very shy and sad dog. They do not like any noise and are triggered by any loud noise. In the span of a week, Hank has made so much progress. The first few days he came home, he always sat under furniture because he did not want anyone to pet him. He did not play or did much. He had been previously abused so trusting humans was a hard task for him. After a week of being shown that not all humans are the same, Hank has allowed the foster parent to pet them and they have even gone outside during the day to play. It is such a big role to foster a dog if you are not ready for the long term commitment of owning a dog.
Whether you decide to adopt or foster a dog, the love you will feel and receive is like no other. It is true that dogs are a men's best friend.
