We need rain!.....Here's some lawn watering tips.

May 21st, 2011

Most areas of the state are in some state of moderate to severe drought and we here in the Houston area have had an extremely dry spring.  How much and when do our lawns need to watered?  St. Augustine is semi drought tolerant and does not need to be watered every day.  Water slowly and let the water seep down into the soil, usually an inch of water a week will do the trick. This much water will keep the soil moist and your grass green. Experts recommend that we water early in the morning so that we lose less to evaporation and that we keep our grass height about 3” to help shield the roots.
