During my 15 years as a realtor, I’ve assisted many divorcing families with their real estate needs. As a result, I believe there is an even more essential skillset for a realtor to possess than experience to better suit divorcing couples: the ability to be impartial but still remain compassionate to their clients’ respective needs. In short, the ability to act as a sort of mediator between not only the spouses but their attorneys as well. In order to gain the trust of what is often two hostile parties, the realtor must not display any bias during spousal conflict. This requires that both spouses be treated equally and respectfully in order to achieve the ultimate goal of selling the home and setting the parties up for a quicker financial rebound.

Divorce, more often than not, is an extremely disruptive event. Choosing a realtor with relevant experience and a proven record of representing both parties fairly is simply critical to getting to a resolution sooner.
