2011 REALTOR Austin Hill Visit
The 2011 Austin Hill Visit took place April 12, 2011. It was a great day with comaradarie and purpose. Over 2000 REALTORs from across the state visited their political leaders and expressed their concerns about upcoming voting issues that include fees, taxes, and other issues facing REALTORS and citizens in our state.
REALTORS often have the reputation that they are only out there to make a buck. We are also concerned citizens, mothers, fathers, daughters, and sons. Please take note of what we are trying to do. Speaking up against changing fees or taxes on real estate transactions not only helps us, it helps the consumer as well.
Some of the bills discussed include:
Issue: Deceptive Trade Practices Act-
House Bill 2177 (Solomon)
Senate Bill 1353 (Eltife)
Issue: Self-directed, semi-independent status for the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC)-
House Bill 1680 (Geren)
Senate Bill 1000 (Eltife)
Private transfer fee on real estate-
House Bill 8 (Darby)
Senate Bill 1459 (Harris)
Eminent domain-
House Bill 279 (Geren)
Senate Bill 18 (Estes)
Please know that there are plently of real estate professionals out there fighting for you and your rights.
