A few years ago, I lived in an apartment that didn’t recycle, but I was lucky enough to find a local grocery store which accepted paper, cans and plastic.  Sadly, after a few months the recycling bins were removed.  It was not till A few months ago that I could again recycle. The Subdivision that I live in started a Recycling Program.  They provided a very large green and yellow bin for each house.  We used to have trash pickup twice a week.  The recycling program reduced the trash pickup to once a week, with Recycling pickup once per week.  This may not have saved our MUD money, but surely it is reducing input to landfills.  Monday was regular trash day.  Driving down the main street to my house, I noticed that the people who had “Garage Sales” the previous weekend placed their cardboard boxes, soda boxes and other recyclable materials out for regular pick up.  These are the same houses that I regularly see the Recycle Bins put out.  I am now curious as to what is actually in some of our neighborhoods bins.  Take a second and think of how many things are actually reusable.  Recycling, it works when we do it right!
