Housing development in downtown Houston will grow up over the next years

Posted by Tomas Larroude

HOUSTON, Texas- With dozens of projects proposed for the city center and others which are already under development, downtown Houston's residential population could more than double over the next years. This boom is fueled in one part for the city program that offers developers up to $15,000 for each apartment or high-rise they build in a multifamily complex of at least 10 units. This Housing development in downtown Houston must meet design guidelines on how the project looks at street-level.

This program went into effect more than one year ago, and the following developments have broken ground or have been proposed:

Under construction:

Alliance Residential Co. - A 5-story, 207-unit residential building at Main and Bell.
Texaco Building- Redevelopment of former office building.
SkyHouse Houston/Novare Group: 24-story, 336-unit residential building with ground floor retail at Fannin and Leeland.

Proposed:

Hines- 33-story, 289-unit residential building with ground floor retail.
Allied Orion- 10-story, 302-unit residential building with 5 street-level live-work units.
Marquette Land Investments- 28-story, 380-unit residential building.
Camden Property Trust- 12-story, 518-unit residential building.
BMS Maganement- 40 story, 463-unit residential building and renovation of existing garage.
Trammel Crow- 38-story, 299-unit residential building.

More than  development for the city, housing development in downtown Houston also means that these are times where home buyers are looking forward to buy a property.  Due to its economic growth with hundreds of new businesses opening in the area and companies expanding, Houston has become one of Texas fastest-growing cities. This is a great opportunity for those who are looking to sell their home. Reach us for more information at (832) 482-9367.
