Sugar Land Regional Airport

The Sugar Land Regional Airport’s primary function is corporate aviation, but also serving the Fort Bend area’s general aviation needs. It is the fourth largest airport in the greater Houston area, and the foremost general reliever airport in the southwest sector. Its new facilities offer Sugar Land visitors rental cars, chartered air flights and dining at the on-site café.

KSGR (FAA code) accommodates small private planes to the largest corporate aircraft, such as the Global Express and it features an 8,000 foot runway, which is longer than any runway at Hobby Airport. It now handles approximately 250 aircraft operations per day. In 2009, it became Houston’s fourth largest airport and provides aviation to over 100 Fortune 500 companies. Sugar Land Regional Airport has also become a stimulus for the ever-expanding Westchase District, Uptown and Greenway Plaza. Many corporate executives have made the Sugar Land area their home as well, spurring the sale of Sugar Land homes in local neighborhoods such as, Telfair, Commonwealth , New Territory Avalon, Aliana, Long Meadow Farms.

In 1952, a traveling oral surgeon, Dr. Donald Hull, flew himself from town to town in the Texas Gulf coast and purchased the property. The City of Sugar Land purchased the air field in 1990 and renamed it Sugar Land Regional Airport. Over the years, several airlines, Metro Airlines, Eastern Airlines and Conquest Airlines have offered commuter and cross-town services, even non-stop to Dallas-Ft Worth. The airport currently has no scheduled passenger airline flights.

The Fixed Base Operation (FBO) at Sugar Land Regional Airport, Global Select, is highly rated and takes care of pilots and customers with first class services. Infrastructure amenities include a 20,000-square-foot “ranch-style” corporate aviation terminal, a state-of-the-art air traffic control tower and radar system; a reinforced, concrete runway with high-intensity lighting measuring 100 feet wide by 8,000 feet in length, accommodating the largest of the corporate-type business jets; and an instrument landing system.

Sugar Land Regional Airport is a city-owned public-use airport located, 17 miles southwest of the central business district of Houston. It is directly across Hwy 6 from Constellation Field, home of the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball league.
