When I met my husband, I was living in a cool and chic loft in Downtown Houston and I was loving every minute of it! He moved in with me to that loft because he knew it made me happy, but I knew that he had a secret desire to eventually move to the suburbs. He loved everything about the suburbs - more home for the $$$, large yards, a community with amenities like swimming pools and tennis courts, golf courses and jogging paths. I fought this idea with him, constantly trying to talk him into buying our first home together in town. I was so dramatic about it, telling him, "My soul would slowly wither and die away" if he made me move to the suburbs. I thought we would be abandoning all semblance of culture or social life.

Then, the most amazing thing happened - I got pregnant and everything changed, not just physically but mentally and emotionally. Suddenly, a big yard and great schools in a safe and secure neighborhood seemed like a fantastic idea!  My husband was a genious! We explored many different options and finally decided that Sugar Land was the best fit for us and our growing family for so many reasons:

1. Sugar Land is not that far people! I can get to the Galleria area in just 20 minutes, as long as there are no major wrecks of course!  I love the convenience of this area and have been so happy with the easy commute to wherever I need to go in the city.

2. There is an abundance of great restaurants of just about every delicacy you could think of - Indian, Vietnamese, Japanese, Mexican, Cajun, I could go on and on. I love food and I love having many food options and we have them here!

3. We are close to family, which we all know is so important when having a baby. It does take a village and I am so grateful that my mom and my sister-in-law are close by to help when the duty of real estate calls!

4. There are so many wonderful parks and museums right here in Sugar Land! Some of my favorites include Memorial Park and the Natural Museum of Science on University.

5. Fort Bend County Fair - enough said! If you haven't been, go!

6. My backyard is everything! We have over a 10,000 sqft lot that would have cost us 5 x's the price inside the loop. We live in our backyard almost year round and this has brought another layer of value to our lives. BBQ's, movie nights under the stars, roasting marshmallows in our firepit, tending to our small yet perfect vegetable garden. We love our backyard!

7. The people!  We have found everyone to be so incredibly friendly and down to earth. From our neighbors, to our church members, to just about everyone I encounter on a daily basis.

8. Diversity - I love all of the cultural differences you find here. My real estate office is prime example of this diversity since we have agents from just about every cultural background you can think of. I was so scared I would lose this moving to the suburbs, and the irony is Sugar Land is probably more diverse than the area I used to live in Downtown.

9. The Schools! My son is only 21 months old, so we don't quite have to worry about this yet. When the time comes, I'm happy to say we are zoned to a top-rated school with a great reputation.

10. Last, but not least, my husband is so happy here!  Sugar Land has proven to be everything he imagined when he dreamed of having a nice home in the suburbs. I know they say, "Happy wife, happy life", but all of you wives know that he truly works both ways. Everyday, when he pulls into our driveway after a long day at work, he is so happy to come home here. And you know what, I feel the same way!

As you can see, Sugar Land has been pretty Sa-Weet to us. I would like to invite you out to the Land of Sugar and take a look for yourself!
