Have a Boo-tiful & Safe Halloween!

Have a Boo-tiful & Safe Halloween! I really am not a Halloween fan per se. I do love this time of year with pumpkins, cooler temperatures, and all of the Fall colors. I am not a fan of blood, gore and evil. Therefore, today I am just passing on a little good cheer today and some wise Halloween tips.  1.  As the sun begins to set, PLEASE be mindful of the all of the children and families that will be out and about. Put your phone down while driving and pay attention. 2.  If you are participating at your home for the trick-or-treaters, make sure your walkways are safe and well lit. Remove anything that could cause a little one to trip and fall. 3.  Consider choosing treats that are more of a healthy choice. Trust me, these kids will have more candy than they will know what to do with. Small bags of nuts or dried fruit can be a great alternative to the candy. Maybe even a small toy like a bouncy ball, a game of Jax or other small token. 4.  Work with your entire neighborhood and all bring your chairs out to the street where the kids can all come to just one location. Not only is this a great way to socialize, it is also fun for the kids to interact with everyone. 5.  If you have kids going out with you tonight, arm them with a good flashlight. They usually like playing with them and a good flashlight will help them avoid stepping in a hole or other possible pitfalls. 6.  Make sure they can walk and see well in their costume. If the costume is too long, it can get caught or cause tripping. If their vision is obscured, this too can lead to a potentially harmful situation. 7.  Only take your kids to a neighborhood that you know. If you have older children going out, go with them even if you have to stand far away from them. Their safety is worth it. 8.  Go through EVERYTHING in their stash before you allow them to dig in! Be mindful of opened packages, etc. 9.  Have fun and dress up with your kids.  They will love it even if they act embarrassed! 10. Teach your children to say "Thank you" at every home. Be safe, have fun, and enjoy the Boo-tiful evening! Happy Halloween Everyone!       "Have you fully lived today?" Paula L.
