As I write this little message, the Houston metro area is starting to open up after 2+ months of "Stay Home, Stay Safe" during the COVID- 19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

There have been opposing sides to the closure of the cities and the shuttering of businesses.  I don't know the right opinion, or if there is a right and wrong side of this pandemic.  All I know is: People have truly died from complications of the virus, businesses have filed for bankruptcy and closed their doors, and people have been layed off, causing the highest unemployment rate in my lifetime of 56 years.

Before we blame the President and either political party, remember, this has never happened before and it wasn't a political issue.  They did the best they could given the opinions of the medical and CDC "experts".  We faced an unprecedented situation in our country.  I didn't want to be up there every day, on TV, giving an opinion that would prove to be worthless a week or two later. So quit blaming!

So now that we are opening up the restaurants, hair salons, department stores and non essential services, remember to patronize those establishments. Use what stimulus money and unemployment benefits, to help get the economy off to a growing start. And GO BACK TO WORK if your company calls you back. Unemployment doesn't last forever. Businesses need their employees.

We have had terrible storms in the Houston area for the past several days. We always have these storms during this time of the year. Tornadoes, flash floods, high winds are just a part of our Gulf coast, bay area life. Don't be discouraged by this. The weather will soon be HOT and MUGGY.

So get outside! Ride your bikes, go for walks, plant some beautiful annuals in your flower beds, hang a bird feeder with seed and watch the birds (Except for my friend Liz, she doesn't like birds). And say hey to your neighbors, they have been quarantined inside also.

Stay safe

Be polite and courteous

Smile and say hi to each other

Have a great day!
