Hi friend! Have you been thinking about moving to Texas? Well today I would love to be your resource in helping you make that decision if considering Houston, Texas and its surrounding cities and suburbs. I will be sharing with you what I think are the best Houston suburbs, and I am defining best by walkability. So essentially, what are the best Houston suburbs with favorable walkability.

A tiny bit of backstory: I was born in Texas back in 1986. I am a Texan through and through, and I bleed red, white, and blue, but my mother was from Kansas. When my parents divorced when I was four, my mother took us back to Kansas, and that is where I grew up (I have lived in Florida, Arizona, and North Carolina for short stints as a child) before returning to Texas when I was 17. So as of today, I have lived over half of my life in Texas, and I would never leave it because of its breath of freedom and plethora of opportunities.

It is so nice to meet you! Lol.

1. The Woodlands  Creekside Park, East Shore, Grogans Mill, and Sterling Ridge.

Why The Woodlands - Nothing really compares to The Woodlands. It writes the finest definition of master planned community. The Woodlands did everything right and then some as it was being developed over the last 60 years. Located about 30 miles north of downtown Houston, Texas, The Woodlands officially began in 1974. The Woodlands is a master-planned community with approximately 118,000 residents and approximately 2,100 businesses. The Woodlands is well known for its extensive parks and recreation, golf, corporate headquarters, schools, places of worship, shopping, dining, hospitality, healthcare and much more. Today, there are 148 parks and 220 miles of hike and bike trails.

2. Cinco Ranch  Also found in Katy: Kings Lake, Grand Lakes, Firethorne, and Seven Meadows.

Why Cinco Ranch - If you are looking for the most established neighborhood in Katy, then Cinco Ranch is the neighborhood for you. The history of Cinco Ranch goes back to February of 1984 when the largest raw land transaction in the history of Houston took place when Cinco Ranch Venture purchased Cinco Ranch, a 5,000 acre property. Over the years the land acquired for Cinco Ranch grew to about 8,092 acres making it one of the largest master planned communities in Houston. Cinco Ranch has over 11 community pools, a golf club, an 18-hole golf course, countless pocket parks, a network of greenbelt trails for hiking, biking, walking and jogging making it possible to get just about anywhere via this trail system, tennis courts, South Lake and Park Lake, a 40,000-square-foot YMCA, and so much more.
