I agree with the previous commenters, Champions School of Real Estate has the best reputation. I know you asked for online options, but in case you are able to make time to attend class at a physical location, go to Champions.
If you are only open to taking the classes online, they all get pretty similar reviews and are more or less the same cost. All of the courses TREC endorses are approved, so you shouldn't worry about them being "secure" or not. In other words, if they're an approved course in Texas they will be secure. As far as online options, Real Estate Express & The CE Shop are some of the more popular options and get consistently good reviews.
With all of that considered, if you are serious about real estate, I would go to a physical classroom environment. The connections you make can be helpful as you are getting started, it is easier to get introduced to brokers, and the cram courses will prepare yourself for the test.
Champions School of Real Estate offers excellent education offerings online and in-class. HCC also offers real estate licensing courses. Getting quality education and studying is key to being able to pass your licensing exam. If you choose the cheap and quick route you will be missing out on receiving in depth theory and background rationale for the material you will be learning which, if you take courses from a provider that goes in depth with the material, will help you have a greater likelihood of passing your exam. Your coursework and provider information is also published on your profile on the TREC website. The public can go to TREC website and enter any licensee’s name in the search bar and SEE what education you have taken. If it’s from a provider who has a reputation for being quick and cheap that may not motivate the consumer to work with you, as compared to a licensee whose education is from Champions or a university. Go to TREC and plug in the names of Realtors you know and do your own side-by-side comparison of their education. As a consumer, who would you hire? The most educated or the least educated Realtor?
I had a wonderful experience with Champions School Of Real Estate. They are several paths to earning your license, including online. I found them to be very helpful and professional. Good luck!
Champions School of Real Estate! I have taken a few of their classes and I think if you cannot take a sit in class, their online classes will be your best bet!
Champions School of Real Estate 100%. I went through them for mine and it was a great experience. I just took my SAE classes from a bargain online course and the experience was awful. Very vague study material asking for very specific interpretations. Questions needed to move forward that were directly conflicting the study material. There was one instance where they wanted you to review the parts of a sales contract... but didn't use a Texas contract which made mee learn an entirely new contract I will never use in my Texas Career. All of which I didn't encounter at Champions.
Hi Carlos, I took my courses through RealEstateU which I obtained from Groupon for $165. Each test (6) cost $25 through ProctorU. All online, then I prepped using Prep Agent on Youtube and I passed on my first try. Good luck to you and let me know when you start I can give you some tips.
Hi Carlos! I took all my real estate coursework online via Real Estate Express. I purchased the class at a discount using a Groupon. I was able to take my classwork from my home computer and at my own pace. I understand that now all tests must be proctored, so you'll have to look into that. I completed the course work this past fall. I then enrolled in an RE salesperson Exam Prep class at Champions School of Real Estate. I sat through this prep course 3 times prior to taking the state & national exams. I passed the exams on my first attempt! I hope this helps!
I personally chose to go to Houston Community College, because it wasn't as expensive as Champions. However, you can find more accredited schools, and classes via TREC website.
Carlos, You've received a lot of good answers. What I would add, is to keep in mind that the classes required to get your license are just the beginning. The classes are important, but if you have a good, supportive broker/mentor, you will learn so much from them as you start doing transactions. Also, title companies offer a lot of informative classes to agents. Some will count towards your required continuing education, but some are just for giving you information and helping you stay up-to-date with the business. Real estate is a continual learning experience. Best wishes at finding an online program you feel comfortable with.
Champions School of Real Estate provides a great education to prepare you for the licensing exam. They are established and well known in the industry, plus they offer the online courses you seek. Of course, you should do your due diligence and research at least a few schools to compare programs and costs - just make sure they are on the TREC approved list. Another list you may want to review is the Provider Exam Passage Rate on the TREC web site: https://www.trec.texas.gov/education/education-provider-exam-passage-rates-sales-agents-and-brokers. You can see by these results that efforts must be made to actually study and learn the material in order to pass the exam. All the best to you!
Carlos, Before I began my real estate career I was in a job that demanded my attention beyond the typical "9-5". Champions School of Real Estate offered courses both at night and online which worked out well for me. I suggest you look at the list of qualifying education providers listed on www.TREC.gov and do your due diligence on several. Best of luck to you!
I looked around and finally chose Champions School of Real Estate for my license needs. I am not lobbying for them but their multiple locations was an added advantage for me. Most of their instructors are good and experienced. Even though they offer live webinar and online classes, I prefer going to one of their location and attending a live instructor in a classroom settings.
Before you dive in, do your homework. It takes time to start ball rolling and money coming in. Most of the agents give up because they thought once they get their license, they will become overnight listing agents and list multiple houses on first month.
Talk to an experienced realtor and get to know how and what it takes to become a good realtor.
Good luck!
