Definitely invest in Platinum. Facebook and Instagram ads are cheap enough to get your name out there. Avoid all the people who call and say, we're looking for an agent who works the ______ area.

Avoid the me too syndrome. If you are new in the business you will need hose $500.00 for other items. The best way to advertise is to take listings, you don’t pay anything and you’ll get paid for that.
Once you start making good money if you still think you need to advertise then you do it.

Experience, Start cold calling, mail out, or use the internet a web page. You need listings. Pass out business cards to people you know. Talk your business to every one you think might be interested in selling. Don’t be an undercover agent.

Spend every dollar you can to get in front of people. You are your best advertisement. Make sure you have some business cards and a web presence (social media preferably) . With whats left over co sponsor/host events.

I would spend my $500 on these, I have actaully already spent on most of these :)
1- HAR Platinium Membership = $129
2- Name Tags = 2 of them ~ $10
3- Open House Signs (You can have personalized ones) = 20 of them ~ $80
4- Your business Magnets on your car-truck or bike ~ $50-75
5- Professional Head-Shot = You can have it free with some Realtor Events or ~$50
6- Sponsor an event or Co-organize an event -$50-$100
7- Have a FB business page and pay couple of $'s to advertise or lead gen. You can select the target location and audiance: ~$10-$15
