Should you replace carpet before selling your home?

May 11th, 2021

Todays home buyers want a home that requires minimal work upon move in which is why it usually pays off to rip and replace before listing your home. While wear and tear is normal, removing stains in carpet or scuff marks on walls will help potential buyers visualize themselves in their new home.

If your carpet is worn down, shows signs of damage or is stained, its probably best to swap it out and avoid red flags. If your carpets are in good condition, you may want to have them cleaned to remove dirt and stains.

When carpet shows its age by color (blue, green or orange) it is best to replace with a more modern color.

You can maximize your profit when replacing carpet by remembering that there other options, besides carpet. The two trends in home design are open floor plans and consistent flooring. If you choose to replace flooring consider other improvements that can boost your sales price. Such as painting, counter-tops and home repairs.

You can significantly boost the price of your home by updating before listing it for sale.
