Most people consider buying a home to be one of the biggest investments of their lives. Due to the weight of this investment, a potential homebuyer’s first impression of a home plays a huge role in whether or not they inquire further. If you are planning to sell your home, its exterior and interior must appear clean, attractive, and problem-free.  It’s important to appeal to your buyers so that you can sell your home fast, and for the highest price possible.

Make your home aesthetically pleasing to homebuyers

Helping first time homebuyers through the visualization process can make a big difference with how long a property to gets sold. One of the most meaningful and motivational ways to help them through their decision making process is to prep the layout of the home with an appealing interior design that includes furniture, tapestry, paintings, etc. This helps potential homebuyers to not only visualize how the furniture can be placed in the layout of the home, but to get them to love the setting of the house and start thinking about the different ways they can design the space of the home for their future. Here are some basic selling points to consider when prepping your home for a showing or open house:

A warm and inviting interior: Your buyers are looking for a space they can see themselves living in.

A well groomed exterior: Curb appeal is a real thing. Buyers want to see a welcoming and polished exterior.

Lighting matters: Well lit spaces are visually appealing.

Up-to-date maintenance: Offer your home buyers peace of mind. Homebuyers shouldn’t need to worry about electric or plumping problems upon moving into a home.

Preparing your home for the market

To give your home the competitive edge it needs, be prepared to put in a bit of elbow grease; it would be a shame to get a lower asking price, or worse– lose a sale all together based on a bad first impression. Below are some quick fixes that you can do to improve your home’s value:

Bump up your curb appeal: When a potential buyer walks up to your house, it shouldn’t feel closed off or forbidding. It should feel bright, clean, and inviting. Move all clutter such as: toys, bikes, scooters, lawnmowers, etc. out of the way. Make sure that the windows are clean, the address numbers are polished, and put on a fresh coat of paint if needed. Depersonalize: Take away the personal mementos, photos, and paint over any markings on the walls.

Clear out the extra clutter: If you have extra furniture, consider moving it into storage. Organize your closets and shelves, and get rid of anything you don’t need.

Clean, clean, clean: Give your house a deep cleaning. Dust your blinds, wash your windows, touch up the walls, wipe down your appliances, clean your carpets, and mop the floors.

Stick to neutral colors: The colors you choose for your home interior have a strong influence in how people feel in the space of the home. It’s advised that you use neutral colors, like earth tones that are more friendly and inviting.
