First things first!
Change the locks, all of them. Great! Most of the time your home warranty company will pay to have your locks re-keyed.
Also please have your garage door openers re-coded!
Do you know where all the shut-offs for your "new/old" new home are? Where? Electrical panel, water mains, gas lines, etc. in case of emergency, you need to get to them fast and know how to operate them.
Very important! Get new batteries for your smoke/fire detectors, and for your C02 detectors. Buy a new fire extinguisher for the kitchen area if necessary.
Flooding. Check for faulty or leaky washing machine hoses, and also check and clean your dryer lint hose.
You may want to have the cooling and heating systems serviced.
Remember to transfer your utilities.
Let your post office know where you are.
Call your credit cards and update info by phone.
Remember to go to the tax office and homestead your home for a discount.
Save copies of all your new home paperwork for your CPA.
At the tax office make sure your home is priced accordingly.
