Your Own Sunsets #1 ACountry Life Real Estate - Brenham, Texas

June 11th, 2019

This Blog Post under active construction so not completely finalized...

While evaluating real estate, country acreage, country living (residential) or farm & ranch properties, most buyers rarely ask questions about where the sun or moon rises or sets with regard to that particular land parcel.  Many properties do not have views of either.  However, many properties do, or can!

The photo above is of my red Santa Gertrudis cattle and an evening sunset.  However they are not on my land in the photo.  The land beneath my cattle in this pic is owned by an adjoining landowner (neighbor).  I have a grazing lease with this neighbor for our mutual benefit.  I get the benefit of additional grassland for the cows, my neighbor gets the benefit of meeting the Washington County Appraisal Districts Ag Valuation guidelines for their property tax purposes. See my related Post *********** on Ag, Market and Wildlife Tax Valuations.

Back to the sunset...   The fence line between the two properties is overgrown with Cedars, Yaupon, Hackberry and various other brush providing a dense barrier.  See my related Post ******** on Edge Stripping or Wildlife Corridor.  One particular spot however was obscured by a single standing dead cedar on our land covered in Mustang Grapes.  Using a tractor and front end loader, I pushed the cedar over and cleared a small opening on the fence line.  This enabled sunset views from our back porch in Brenham Texas.

Our view of the sunrise is obscured by heavy timber across multiple properties.  But the sunsets and I should say moonsets  are now continuously on display.  On many occasion the setting Full Moon and crescent moon is spectacular.  Use your best binoculars....

An additional note regarding sunbeams... The early morning and late evening "GOLDEN" light of sunbeams can add spectacular moments to your country property enjoyment.  Over time it is easy to determine where these Golden Beams are going to paint themselves onto your land.  Obviously their location changes with the seasons.  But once their locations are identified you can enhance your enjoyment with location specific plantings of trees and shrubs (NATURESCAPING).  Examples to envision are Red or Silver maple trees that explode with fall colors amplified in moments of Golden Beam lighting!

Also, as with the example prior regarding the opening in the fence line.  Through observation you may be able to manipulate your surrounding brush or trees to enable penetration of the Golden Beams into your place.  Maple photo link here ******

I can see things in the land that most overlook or disregard.  Contact me if I can assist you in your property search.
