Bought a home in 2020?? Time to save some money!!

Did you purchase a home between January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020?  If so, you may be eligible for homestead exemption on that property if it is your primary residence.  It's a great way to save on your property taxes by filing for this exemption.  It's does not cost you anything to file the application and once you have filed it, and it is recorded by Harris County Appraisal District, you will continue to receive homestead exemption savings annually until ownership changes.  There are some requirements you will have to meet but its definitely worth the small amount of time it may take to read up on it and then file.  Visit for more information.  If you are a iPhone user, there is an app which will allow you to file right from your iPhone, click here for app.  There is a filing deadline involved, so don't delay...get started today.  If you have questions, feel free to contact me (832)233 7215.  If you purchased in county beside Harris County, just visit that county's Appraisal District website for more information on how to file.  

To apply for a Homestead Exemption, a homeowner must be occupying the property as his homestead(primary residence) on January 1st of the tax year in which the exemption is requested and granted. You have until April 30th of that same year to file this exemption. Most counties have Exemption Forms on their website. If your property is in Harris County, you can download the HCAD mobile app or fill in a digital form by clicking here.   You will need the date of occupancy and your Texas Drivers License.

If you purchased your home(and you currently reside in the property as you primary residence) prior to January 2020 but have never filed for your homestead exemption it's not too late.  File now to begin your savings on your property taxes.
